Understanding the Medical Examination Process

Who Will Conduct the Examination?

Your child's examination will be carried out by a dedicated team consisting of one physician and two nurses, all of whom possess specialized training in the area of child abuse. This team is deeply committed to the health, safety, and overall well-being of your child, with the examination aimed at identifying, documenting, and addressing any medical issues that may have arisen as a result of abuse.

Determining the Need for a Medical Exam:

The decision regarding whether your child requires a medical examination is made collectively by the investigative team, based on the specifics of the case. Should an examination be deemed necessary, it will be conducted by the WCCAC's skilled medical professionals in a supportive and safe environment, with a support person present to provide additional comfort to your child.

After the Examination:

Upon the completion of the examination, the medical professional will communicate with you, providing a general overview of the findings. This discussion is an important part of the process, offering you insight into the examination's outcomes and any subsequent steps that may be necessary for your child's care and recovery.
